Hello again my friend,

Here’s a name I bet you’ve never heard.

Manuel Francisco dos Santos.

He was a Brazilian football player who is considered by many to be the best right winger in the history of the sport.

In 1958, in a match against Italy, he beat 4 defenders and the goalkeeper.

He then waited in front of an open net for one of the defenders to catch up, just so he could beat him again before scoring the goal.

The guy was a savage on the pitch.

He was also disabled.

Manuel had polio as a child. As a result, one leg was 2 inches shorter than the other.

Had his parents been better off financially they would have fixed the deformity with surgery.

But his family was poor. So Manuel had to learn to live with the hand he’d been dealt.

Like most Brazilian street kids at that time, he played a lot of soccer.

As he got older he found that his shorter leg gave him a unique running style that confused his opponents.

They couldn’t tell what he was going to do next.

They thought he was going right. He’d go left.

He was dam near impossible to defend against.

His unique style on the pitch earned him the name ‘Garrincha’ which translates into “Little Bird”.

From 1957 – 1962 he lead his team to 3 Brazilian league championships.

And won the World Cup twice. In 1958 and 1962.

Over 130,000 people came to watch his final match.

Garrincha found a way to turn a disadvantage into an unfair advantage.

He turned what most people would use as an excuse into an opportunity to leave a legacy.

There Are No Disadvantages
Only Limiting Beliefs

You are a unique human.

There has never been anyone like you before. And there will never be anyone like you again.

Regardless of your status, education, upbringing, or experiences – you are special.

When I’m asked what I do I often default to the formula we discussed in last week’s letter.

I say:

“I help entrepreneurs create a lifestyle business
that provides them both financial freedom and income mobility.”

But that’s just a 50,000-foot view of what I do.

There’s a reason people who want to start a business don’t.

  • It’s not because they’re lazy.
  • It’s not because they’re too busy.
  • It’s not a timing issue.
  • Or a lack of ideas.

You see, most people have skills. But they struggle to identify the ones that give them an unfair advantage.

What I do is help them identify those unfair advantages and monetize them in the open market.

In my Bootstrap-It program, I have a training that will help you identify your unfair advantage.

You can watch that video for free here.

I don’t know of a single disadvantage that can’t become an unfair advantage in the right environment.

If you’re broke with no money to start a business you have to find a way to monetize quickly. You don’t have years of investor cash to burn through.

You’ve got to get clear on what problems you solve and test the efficacy of your product or service in trial by fire.

You have a MASSIVE advantage over someone with mountains of money.

If you don’t believe me, have a look at Mark Zuckerberg.

He’s spent 14 BILLION dollars on a Metaverse nobody wants.

Imagine if he was back in his dorm room again. No money. Just a vision.

Do you think he’d have produced the same pile of crap?

Not likely.

Lizzo has become one of the most popular singers in America.

If you’ve ever seen her perform you know she has one of the most electric stage performances today.

May of her songs like “Cuz I love you” and “Special” are focused on lifting people up and inspiring them to be the best version of themselves.

She’s also 250 lbs.

In an industry obsessed with appearances, Lizzo has turned a perceived disadvantage into an unfair advantage.

She’s become an icon and role model for millions of young girls who don’t fit society’s definition of what beauty should be.

Something no skinny white girl from the suburbs could ever hope to do.

What’s Your Unfair Advantage?

I use Zuck and Lizzo as examples because they’re well-known.

But there are millions of people who’ve learned to turn a disadvantage into an unfair advantage by thinking differently.

You can too.

There’s a formula you can use to help. It’s called the M.I.L.E.S. framework.

I did a video walking you through the process. You can watch it here.

Discovering your unfair advantage is the first step to achieving a life of financial freedom and income mobility.

There’s no point in talking about anything else until that’s done.

So watch the video, do the work, and I’ll write to you next week.

Talk soon,

Jason
